ECON Vote on the review of the Markets in Financial Instruments Regulation and Directive (MiFIR/D)

The members of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) of the European Parliament will vote on the final compromise text for the MiFIR/D Review. As the rapporteur of the European Parliament on the proposals for the review, Professor Hübner led the work of the Committee on this topic and coordinated the negotiations between the political groups. The objective of the MiFIR/D review is to set out a series of measures to address the current problems in European securities markets in order to make them more competitive and attractive. These measures include the establishment of a consolidated tape, targeted improvements to market transparency, actions to address the cost of market data and to improve the competitiveness of EU capital markets. The vote is expected to endorse the negotiating mandate of the European Parliament ahead of the interinstitutional negotiations with the Council, which will lead to the adoption of the final text.
