INTA Hearing on the anti-coercion instrument

The Committee on International Trade will host a public hearing to debate the Commission’s proposal on the anti-coercion instrument. Prof. Danuta Huebner, will share her views on the necessity for the EU to have trade defence instruments that help our companies to stand up against economic coercion.

Public Hearing with Elke König, Chairperson of the Single Resolution Board (SRB)

Prof. Danuta Huebner will participate to the European Parliament’s Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) Public Hearing with Elke König, Chairperson of the Single Resolution Board (SRB). The hearing is a regular appointment for ECON members, and in this occasion it comes after recent action by the SRB in respect of the Austrian subsidiary of the Russian bank Sberbank, resulting in the sale of its Croatian and Slovenian subsidiaries and an announcement that the Austrian parent would then go into insolvency proceedings. Professor Huebner will also be able to ask Ms König about these and other effects on the EU banking system of the invasion of Ukraine.

Inter-parliamentary Conference on Stability, Economic Coordination and Governance in the European Union

Prof. Danuta Huebner will participate to an exchange of views amongst Members of National Parliaments, Members of the European Parliament, representatives from the European Commission and the French Assembly and Senate. The event is organised as part of the 2022 European Parliamentary Week, an event co-organised by the European parliament and the French National Assembly and French Senate, which will span over Tuesday 15 March and Wednesday 16 March. Participants will focus on EU own resources, the Reform of the Stability and Growth Pact (SGP) and will hold a High-Level Conference on the Recovery and Resilience Facility – Lessons for the future. The event is also an occasion to discuss how the Union and Member States’ fiscal relationship and fiscal capacity should be adapted to reflect the changes in the economic and geopolitical contexts, in order to better prepare the Union for the challenges ahead. Professor Huebner will take the floor during the discussions on the SGP and will highlight what possible changes should be considered for the EU fiscal rules.
