Dear Ms Huebner,

On behalf of the World Youth Alliance we are pleased to say thank you for your support to the celebration of the World Down Syndrome Day during the European Parliament’s plenary session in Strasbourg. It was an honor to have you in attendance. We understand that you have many obligations, and we appreciate your taking time from your busy schedule to join us. We hope that you found the event to be both interesting and enriching.

As you already know, the World Youth Alliance Europe hosted this event as one way of observing the World Down Syndrome Day, March 21, among the European Union institutions and the Member States. We were delighted with the great support received from numerous MEPs representing all the political groups in the European Parliament and from many citizens all around Europe and the world to each campaign of our event: the online campaign of “mismatched socks” #socksbattle4DS, the exhibition “Jérôme Lejeune, a discovery for Life” and the official photo of more than sixty MEPs accompanied by the WYA team.

You may find our follow-up article in our blog: https://www.wya.net/op-ed/world-down-syndrome-day-in-the-european-parliament/ . Additionally, do not hesitate to access our Facebook account, World Youth Alliance Europe, to get the photos that were taken during the event. We have published a special album, called World Down Syndrome Day: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.939745832726156.1073741857.145635292137218&type=1 , with a selection of the best pictures.

After closing the event, we would like to sincerely thank you again for choosing to participate in our event and for helping us to raise awareness and to adopt a common position in favor of rights, social inclusion and general life improvement of people with Down syndrome. It was a great success and would not have been possible without your help.

Yours sincerely,

Maria Estraviz Pardo
