ECON Committee meeting, Presentation of draft reports on Markets in Financial Instruments Regulation and Directive (MiFIR/D)

Prof. Danuta Huebner will participate to the meeting of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) of the European Parliament. As the European Parliament’s Rapporteur for the Market in Financial Instruments Directive and Regulation (MiFID II /R) proposals, during the meeting she will present her draft MiFID II/R reports, which set out a number of measures to resolve some of the current issues in the European securities markets to make them more competitive and attractive. Amongst the topics discussed, Professor Hübner will present what she thinks should be done to ensure the emergence of a Consolidated Tape in Europe and improve the market transparency regime, and what actions she favours to address the costs of market data and the cross-border impact of the MiFIR review in relation to other jurisdictions. Following the meeting and the deadline for amendments, Professor Hübner will then lead the negotiations with the other political groups on this important file.
